How to Use Midjourney Guide: Midjourney No Parameter

In short, the --no parameter helps you remove distracting or unwanted details from your images. Also known as negative prompting, it is a handy way to tell Midjourney exactly what you want to leave out.

How to Use the Midjourney No Parameter

When you type your prompt, just add --no followed by a list of unwanted elements, separated by commas.

Example

In the example below, we want to create a landscape image, but we do not want any trees, so we add the negative prompting command: --no trees

Midjourney Prompt:
landscape --ar 16:9 --no trees

Mind the Moderation

Midjourney’s moderation system treats each word in your --no list individually. Typing something like --no water trees is read as “no water and “no trees,” which can lead to misunderstandings. If you’re looking for a specific style, it’s safer to specify what you’d like to see rather than banning something broad.
